PROGRAM DESCRIPTION:

1) Roundtable Discussion facilitated by David Rossinow, Education Chair

2) Fungi and Home Inspectors: When to Worry and When Not (Jeffrey C. May, May Indoor Air Investigations, LLC)

We will go over some of the basic differences between mold fungi and rot fungi, then look at lots
of photographs of conditions you might see and discuss what to be concerned about and what to tell your clients.  We'll look at some of the internet hyperbole pertaining to mold as well as cover how some people are affected by mold exposure and how remediators work.

About Our Speaker:
Jeff transitioned slowly from home inspections to indoor air quality (IAQ) starting about twenty years ago. He believes that the knowledge he gained as a home inspector is critical to his IAQ work; and that
home inspectors are the ideal candidates for air-quality work.
3) Heat Recovery Ventilating and Energy Recovery Ventilation Systems (Brad Keyes, Keyes, North Atlantic, Inc. )

Keyes will speak on the design, installation and inspection of heat recovery ventilators and energy recovery ventilators (HRVs and ERVs). Attendees will better understand why there has been an increase in the use of HRVs and ERVs in residential buildings. Inspectors will be given information that will help describe to clients the advantages and disadvantages of these ventilators and what type of maintenance they require.

About Our Speaker:
Brad Keyes has worked in the HVAC industry for more than 40 years. As co-owner of Keyes North Atlantic, Inc. he has worked in residential and commercial buildings throughout the New England area, with a concentration on eastern Massachusetts. He has been a friend of ASHI throughout his career.
