PROGRAM DESCRIPTION: Attend our half hour “Meet the pros” panel from 4:30- 5:00. After our round-table discussion, we welcome Tom Ivey, the Brand Safety Ambassador from Lift Master from Cherry Hill, N.J. For the first hour, he will review safety issues with garage overhead doors, including Industry Safety standards, proper balancing of the garage door, proper arm alignment, horizontal and vertical strut alignment, a video on “3-Step Safety Check”, and tools for inspector to use in the field. For the second hour, we will have Jeff May who is the principal scientist at May Indoor Air Investigations LLC, Tyngsboro, MA. He is the author of “My House is Killing Me”. Jeff will be speaking on the indoor air quality issues with spray polyurethane foam (SPF) insulation. His presentation will include chemical features of SPF components and how to recognize problem installations through visual and chemical testing. He will review potential health issues including dust exposure. He will also make suggestions on report writing with respect to SPF.
